An unplanned expat blogger behind Nova Quiet Garden

Hello, I'm Sofia
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent. An expat based in Milan, Italy.
A few years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Italy wasn’t in our long-term plan. As with many expatriate relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and raised expectations. Everyday chores seemed more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning on the job. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built Nova Quiet Garden
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to close that gap — practical advice grounded in real life in Italy.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Real-world insights from life in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily experiences
- Updated only when something meaningful changes
This site ISN'T:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Italy continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Milan or anywhere in Italy, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sofia
